my experience with stimming

Image
Hiya let's have a yarn about stimming  So stimming is something everyone does but it's usually highlighted in autistic and ADHD people.  Stimming is simply repetitive movements that can vary from each of your senses here's some comen examples. Visual: looking at light sources, scanning your surroundings, looking at beautiful colours and shapes Oral: biting lips, cheeks or tongue, chewing on anything non edible Sound: playing the same song on repeat, focusing on rhythms such as a clock ticking Autitory: singing, speaking in an acsent, repeating words or phrases Tactical; running hands, feet, lips etc on a certain texture  Whole body; Jogging on the spot, jumping, flapping hands, rocking And many many more stimming usually a good thing (unless it's harming you or others) and should never be stopped. Here's my experience with stimming, there are many many ways I stimm, as soon as I got ahold of a rattle toy I was hooked, I would also gently play with mine, or whoever w...

school attendance πŸ•·οΈβœ¨πŸ•·οΈβœ¨πŸ•·οΈ

HiyaπŸ‘‹πŸ½ Let's have a yarn about school attendance I'm going to start off by saying I've berly been at school, my whole schooling journey I've rarely gone for a week straight. I've always battled with 'school refusal' I'm not a big fan of this term, it makes me feel as if it's something I do on purpose instead of the school system failing to accommodate for me.  With year 9 now behind me although I feel extremely proud of myself, I still have an awful voice saying I didn't really do that great. It dose make me rather sad that even at a school that cares about my needs and dose there best to accommodate for me, I still didn't have very good attendance. Things that stop me from going can include but not limited to:  anxiety, I simply can't go, a dreadful stomach ache worried about the many possibilities that could unfold. Depression, if I'm feeling depressed then it's just not safe for me to put myself through school. Also a massiv...

autistic burnout πŸ«‚πŸ«§πŸ«‚πŸ«§πŸ«‚

Hiya πŸ‘‹πŸ½ Let's have a yarn about autistic burnout Autistic burnout is something that really need to be talked about so let's spread some awareness So one year ago I couldn't leave the house, I couldn't go to school, have freinds over and barely eat. This was all caused by autistic burnout.  Burnout is caused by doing too much and not allowing yourself to rest or be 'autistic'  What I mean by that is masking, basically unconsciously pretending to be alistic. Things that are considered masking:  Forcing yourself to make eye contact Not allowing yourself to stim Avoiding talking about things your passionate about to seem less 'weird' Forcing yourself to eat things you don't want to Ignoring your sensory issues And lots of other things Burnout can last days, weeks, months or even years. Your likely to suffer from multiple panic attacks per day and everything causes anxiety attacks. You'll usually also feel extremely physically ill as wel...

AFRIDπŸ›πŸ§ΌπŸ›πŸ§ΌπŸ›πŸ§Ό

Hiya πŸ‘‹πŸΌ Let's have a yarn about ARFID. Avoidant Restricted Food Intake Disorder  Afrid is an eating disorder I've been struggling from my entire life and most likely will have for my entire life. Unlike eating disorders that are comely represented in media and are easyer to find help with, afrid isn't about body image issues or numbers. Someone with afrid is often discribed as a 'picky eater' or they 'eat like a toddler' I find phrases like these belittling and upsetting. Afrid is comely associateed with autism, sensory processing disorder and ADHD. For people who don't know what it's like, image that one food that you just can't eat, you think it's disgusting; that's what %95 of food is like to me. It makes me extremely anxious going to places I know I have to eat such as school or a friends house. Family meals are the worst, everyone elses plates are stacked high with beautiful looking food they can't wait to dig into then theres...

showering 🚿✨🚿✨🚿✨

Hiya it's auggieπŸ‘‹πŸΌ Let's have a yarn about showering 🚿 Hygiene is something I struggle with due to my sensory issues and executive disfugtioning but I have some tips to share with showering 1. Have a tidy shower. It's alot easier to feel clean if your shower cubicle is clear. Only have what you need in the cubicle, no cleaning products! And believe me that mouldy, empty body wash from 2019 is no longer needed. 2. Get a shower stool. I've always sat on the floor while showering otherwise I get very dizzy. Sitting on the floor is not very pleasant and not very hygienic. Earlier this year I finally got round to buying a shower stool from red dot and showers are much nicer now %100 recommend 3. Get a routine. Once you only have what you need in your shower, this is much easier. An extra tip is I line up all my products on the shower floor on my right then after I've done that step, I simply put it to my left. 4. Even if you can't have a shower today, try wash yo...
